DIY GumLeaf Gutter Guard, there’s a popular saying in New Zealand that goes something like, ‘Kiwis; DIY, it’s in our DNA’. While the advertising campaign that launched it hails back a few years now, the phrase stuck and though we might not admit it, most kiwis are a little bit proud of that fact!
The good news is that Gumleaf Gutter Guard is 100% ideal for DIY application. It’s easy to buy (we have a great relationship with our direct suppliers in Australia and can sell the product direct to you with free courier delivery anywhere in NZ with orders of 20 or more pieces. Just call us anytime 6 days a week and we’ll help you with all that you need to order.
Alternatively, Gumleaf is available from Mitre10 ITM and PlaceMakers. It’s fairly simple to cut, and not generally too difficult to fit and attach to your guttering … and we can honestly say, it’s not rocket science!
However, Rohan and the team are available to assist if you have any problems, and as part of this website, we have included clear, concise, and easy to follow step-by-step YouTube video instructions for DIY application.
Gumleaf Gutter Guard Protection has been fine-tuned to provide a product and system that never fails. From the quality and strength of the steel it’s composed of, to the fool-proof installation, to the longevity and effectiveness of its design, Gumleaf is outstanding. High zinc content means no need to powder coat (unless you live coastally) and it has a fire rating of ‘Zero’ (the best you can get!)
Have a look at our DIY video and see for yourself. You’ll be pleasantly surprised at what you can achieve as your own master Gumleaf practitioner. Here’s a summary of the process to install on concrete tile roofs:
Measure your gutter and add 5% for wastage
Measure the gap between the lip and the edge of the tile (the fold)
70, 80, 90, 100-fold Woodland Grey
Clean your gutters, make sure they are fully supported and free of rust and leaks
Slide back your first row of tiles
Place your guard on top of the gutter and overlap your last piece
The louvres should be facing away from the roof
Screw every 300mm along the gutter lip
Screw at the overlap and slide your tiles back into position
For corners, trim your mesh to size, bend the back section down, install
Cut around the lip, screw where necessary
